Pliability      (mental elements 40 and 41, Pl1-Pl2)
(Same as Wieldness)

Pliability is the phenomenon that crushes subtle mental impurities or mental hindrances that do not allow wielding of the mind. Pliability makes mind maneuverable in wholesome acts like developing faith in things that are worthy or in acts like purifying the mind. Like the wielding of a weapon by an expert martial artist, pliability manifests as efficacy or effectiveness in minding an object. For example, the higher the degree of pliability, the greater is the possibility of success in developing mindfulness of breath. It is an essential wholesome element, which is always present in some degree in all wholesome states of consciousness.
